Crowne Plaza Helsinki - Hesperia will be refurbished in 2020. This will strengthen the position of one of Helsinki's best-known hotels as a venue for overnight stays, meetings and events. The renovation has been planned in cooperation with dSign Vertti Kivi & Co, an award-winning and famous interior design agency based in Helsinki. The hotel will re-open in October 2020.
Throughout its close to 50-year history, the hotel has been something of a landmark on Mannerheimintie, providing a luxury setting for countless domestic and international events. Over the years, hotel’s guests have included both Finnish and foreign VIPs.
”To be completed in October, the renovation will bring the Crowne Plaza Helsinki - Hesperia hotel into the 2020s, by providing an even better stayover experience and new, innovative facilities for meetings, events and get-togetherings,” says General Manager Saija Savela-Palovaara.
Revamped hotel combines nature with glamour
Despite its location within a stone's throw of Helsinki City Centre and the bustling Mannerheimintie, the hotel provides an experience of natural tranquillity and closeness to nature. Features, such as amazing pictures of plants and animals in the guest rooms and corridors, bring guests close to nature.
"It was inspiring to participate in renovating a glamorous national institution like Hesperia, which was originally designed by the top names of its day, and whose legendary nightclub has played host to international stars. The idea was to combine the hotel with the neighbouring Hesperia Park and the Töölönlahti district, which is brimming with culture and experiences of nature," says Vertti Kivi of dSign Vertti Kivi & Co.
"We aimed to give the hotel a quality, spontaneous and approachable look. For example, we updated the hotel lobby with brand elements based on new ways of working and informal meeting practices," sums up Kivi.
Rooms can be adapted for work, relaxation or sleeping
The renovated rooms highlight the Crowne Plaza hotels' cutting-edge brand elements and solutions that cater for the variable needs of guests. With their adaptable furniture, the hotel rooms allow guests to move flexibly between work, relaxation and sleep.
"Guests travelling on business want to relax after a hard day's work. Time for yourself in a health club can sometimes be as important as a successful meeting through the day," says Savela-Palovaara.
Inspiring encounters and functional meeting facilities
Crowne Plaza also has 15 adaptable conference rooms of various sizes. Their level of comfort and conference technology are being upgraded to meet the needs of today. On the atmospheric second floor, the Crowne Ballroom provides an amazing setting for events with up to a thousand people. When filled to capacity, the Crowne Plaza can host up to 1,500 guests.
"The hotel's new entrance hall, lobby bar and restaurant provide an oasis of relaxation from the city's bustle and a meeting place for hotel guests and locals," says Savela-Palovaara. She invites guests of nearby cultural venues for a drink and a bite to eat at the hotel, before or after performances.
